Privacy Policy
Short version: Bracket Cam is a camera that runs on your phone. Photos, GPS, tags, notes, and settings stay on your device. The app does not create an account, does not upload anything, and does not send your data to us or to anyone else.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy is for the mobile application Bracket Cam (Android package app.bracketcam.camera), published by:
Privacy inquiries: support@bracketcam.app
The entity named above is the developer of Bracket Cam as listed on Google Play.
2. What this policy covers
This policy describes how Bracket Cam accesses, uses, stores, and shares user and device data. Google Play requires every app to publish a privacy policy, including apps that do not send data off the device.
It does not cover:
- Google Play, Apple, or your device manufacturer’s own data practices
- Cloud photo backup you enable yourself (for example Google Photos or iCloud), which may copy photos from your gallery after Bracket Cam has saved them on the device
3. Data the app accesses on your device
Bracket Cam accesses the following information on your device only, and only to take, stamp, and save survey photos. None of it is transmitted to us.
| Data | Why the app accesses it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To capture the photograph you take with the shutter. |
| Approximate and precise location | To stamp GPS coordinates on the photo watermark and/or filename, and optionally to write coordinates into the photo’s EXIF metadata. Location is used only while you are using the app, not in the background. |
| Photos / media library | To save the finished JPEG into a dedicated “Bracket Cam” album (or the default gallery if that album cannot be created). |
| Tags and notes you type | To burn the text you enter into the filename and/or on-image watermark, and to keep a short recent-tag list on the device for convenience. |
| Date and time | To stamp the capture time on the photo and in the filename, using your chosen format. |
| Limited device / camera info | When Privacy mode is off, the app may write standard camera EXIF into the saved file (for example make/model, lens, or exposure values reported by the camera). This stays inside the photo file on your device. |
| App settings | Preferences such as flash, resolution, watermark style, filename prefix, and stamp toggles are stored locally so they persist between launches. |
You can refuse a permission. If you deny gallery access, photos cannot be saved. If you deny location, GPS is omitted from stamps and metadata.
4. What we do not collect or share
Bracket Cam:
- Does not create or require an account
- Does not upload photos, location, tags, notes, or settings to any server
- Does not use analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs
- Does not sell personal or sensitive user data
- Does not use Bluetooth
- Does not need a network connection to take or save photos
- Does not share data with third parties
The Android package includes a standard INTERNET permission used by the operating system and app framework. Bracket Cam does not use that permission to send your photos, location, or other personal data anywhere.
5. Photos and metadata
When you capture a photo, Bracket Cam can write survey information into:
- the filename (for example a prefix, date, tag, note, and GPS, depending on your stamp settings)
- an on-image watermark drawn onto the JPEG
- the photo’s EXIF and XMP metadata (timestamp, optional GPS, tags/notes, and optional camera fields)
That information then lives in the photo file in your gallery. Anyone who later receives a copy of that file can read the watermark, filename, and metadata. You control what is written by using Stamp settings and Privacy mode.
Privacy mode (in Settings) strips GPS and device information from photo metadata and saves only timestamp, tags, and notes. You can also turn “Save GPS to EXIF” off independently when Privacy mode is off.
6. Location
If you grant location permission, Bracket Cam reads your position while the app is in use so it can stamp coordinates on new photos. It does not track you when the app is closed. You can revoke location permission in system settings at any time; new photos will then omit GPS.
7. App settings stored locally
Preferences and a short history of tags you have used are stored in the app’s private storage on the device (not in a cloud account). Uninstalling the app or clearing the app’s storage removes this data. Photos already saved to your gallery are not removed by uninstalling — delete those from the Photos/Gallery app if you want them gone.
8. Permissions
Bracket Cam requests runtime permissions before using the camera, location, and photo library. You can change these later in your device settings. The app does not request microphone, contacts, SMS, phone, or Bluetooth permissions.
9. How data is handled
Because photos and settings never leave your device through Bracket Cam, there is no transmission for us to encrypt. Files are written to the device’s standard photo library and the app’s local storage, protected by whatever lock screen, encryption, and backup settings you have configured on the phone.
If you enable device or photo-library backup (for example Android backup or Google Photos backup), those services — not Bracket Cam — may copy local files according to their policies.
10. Retention and deletion
We do not retain your data on any server, because we never receive it. Bracket Cam does not offer accounts, so there is no account to delete.
To delete data that exists on your device:
- Photos: delete them from the Bracket Cam album (or your gallery).
- App settings and tag history: uninstall Bracket Cam, or on Android go to Settings → Apps → Bracket Cam → Storage → Clear data.
Copies of photos you have already shared, emailed, or backed up elsewhere are outside this app and must be deleted in those places if you wish.
11. Children
Bracket Cam is a field survey camera. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
If how Bracket Cam handles data changes, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date will change. Continued use of the app after an update means you are using the app under the revised policy.
